Segregation is a necessary step
  • black kids are treated horribley in integrated schools
  • in integrated schools, they are "learning their place in society"
  • given the reality of the situation at hand, it is important to segregate
  • they are loosing their own perspective, on history (African American studies)
  • black students need teachers who understand their lives/history
  • became a nationalist during this period of time
  • rather than being concerned with desegregation, African Americans should be concerned with getting more resources for black schools
  • White people will resist desegregation, why go through the trouble?
